A HUG FROM BLANCHE is a woman-owned business offering wearable art in the form of unique, hand-knit garments -- HUGS -- shrugs with a dramatic flair. The HUGS were conceived and originated in Orlando, Florida by transplanted yankee Blanche Dormady in 2004, and are currently being worn by several women (and a few men) around the world. The super cold air conditioning in Florida, as well as the freezing cold winters of the north make these universal leisure wear. All shrugs are cozy, hand-knitted, original designs and can be worn anywhere. Many of the HUGS were designed and knitted by Blanche, but after a while there was a demand for more knitters. To date, there are three other designers from North Carolina and Pennsylvania. When the time comes, there are other knitters waiting to be put into service.
